Cincinati Reds

Zeke had his first baseball meeting this evening and it looks like he will be playing for the Cincinnati Reds. All I have to say is, it isn't the White Sox. I told him he wouldn't be allowed in the house if he had to wear a White Sox uniform. I told you, we are die hard Cubbies fans! I am looking forward to watching Zeke play baseball since I have enjoyed watching him come so far in basketball. This evening at practice, Hersch was telling me that they were running new plays where Zeke gets the ball more to shoot outside since he did so well at last Saturdays game. Zeke was also getting a lot of great praise from his coach about how well he did. Yay Zeke!!! I'm super proud of you!

Earlier today, I took Zac to the doctor. She had me give him a breathing treatment in the office and listened to his lungs before and after. Luckily his pulse oxygen level went up a little so she wasn't going to admit him. That is something I worry about when he gets a nasty cough like this. He seems to be doing a little better, he's just really tired and out of sorts. His doctor also put him on an antibiotic just so he stays in the clear.

Also today, I was making some "Thank You" cards for the varsity coach for the girls basketball team. I think I was volunteered by my husband. The good thing was that I was able to make most of them with my scraps. Thank goodness. I wasn't sure if I would have enough supplies on hand. I think they came out pretty cute. What do you all think?

Thanks for looking!!

Multi-tasking...

This week has been a bit of a crazy one since little Zackers is sick and Zeke can't seem to sleep past 5am these days. We have been worried about Zeke for some time now and last night he finally let us into that brain of his. It suddenly all makes sense now. He told us that he was threatened by two kids in his second grade class and he has been nervous about it ever since December. Which it totally makes sense, since that is when we noticed a change in him. We were constantly trying to open the conversation lines but he refused to talk. I am so glad that he told us. I am hoping that now he will be able to sleep. He already slept the whole night thru last night. So much for a little guy to bear on his shoulders.

As for Zac being sick, he has a cold and a cough. It has been so difficult for him to breathe. I have been giving him his breathing treatments but I think I need to take him in to see his doctor. I need to get him better before next week because I don't want him going under not feeling well. The last time that happened, we had to stay in the hospital. He has managed to stay out for so long that I would like to keep it that way. I took a few pics of him this evening during dinner after Hersch and Zeke went to the basketball game. Zac and I were still eating and he was playing with this toy phone that Zeke left on the table.

Look at his poor little droopy eyes. This is where you can tell he's not feeling well.

I swear I don't know where he got this idea from. We don't talk on the phone and eat. At one point he was trying to balance the phone on his shoulder and eat. He was too cute. Well I am off to watch 'Lost' with Herschel. Nite, nite.

One great Saturday

Yesterday was a great Saturday for me. I got to watch my son's great basketball game. They finally had some competition and it was one intense game. They were tied at the end of the game and they went into three minutes of overtime. Zeke was also one of the boys picked to play in overtime. Zeke played great the whole game. He had six points, one steal and I think three rebounds. I was so proud of him. He is super cute shooting. He is an outside shooter because he doesn't like contact. It seems to work for him. Zeke's team won in overtime. I wish all of his games were like that, although then I think his coach would have an aneurysm for sure.

The other great part of my day was my craft night. I had such a great time. Thank you for all of you that were able to make it to my first Craft Night. Whether or not you did anything crafty, I hope you all had a great time as well. It was nice visiting with all of you and I can't wait to see you all back next month. I was at least able to complete a layout I had been working on for about a week now. I also really enjoyed seeing everyone's projects. Next month I will be having an Easter make & take. I look forward to seeing everyone again and maybe some new faces.

Thanks Hersh...

I just want to give a great big THANK YOU to my husband. He has been very supportive and helpful to me during my rough patch, despite the fact that he has been worried about things as well. I just want to say that I love you and I am so glad that you are here for me. It means a lot to me! You always know how to make me smile and feel much better.

I am also super excited that your basketball team won their last game. You ended on a good note!

A few cards

Since it was Valentine's Day, I made a few cards for some of my friends. I realize now that I didn't make enough cuz there were so many more people that I wanted to send them to. My goal is to make more for Easter. I also made a birthday card for my mom for her birthday tomorrow. I really enjoy making cards and scrapbooking. I also made some little candy bags for the kiddos that came over on Valentine's Day. They all seemed to love them. (I know it was because of the candy in them, but I can think it was cuz they were cute little bags.) Making these simple cards are so therapeutic for me. It's my relaxation. Well here are a few pics of the cards I made.

One Valentine's Day card.

Another Valentine's Day card.

One final Valentine's card.

My mom's birthday card. I love this girl stamp. She is so cute and sweet looking.

Valentine's game night...

Well since Hersh and I don't usually do anything for Valentine's Day, we had some friends over and had dinner, some drinks and played a board game. It was a lot of fun. I felt bad for some of the kiddos, they seemed to be having a rough night but then they were fine. I was even more excited that one of my friends that never drinks, had two drinks and a shot. Holy cow! You go my love! It was a low stress evening but now I am super tired. Oh well, the price you pay for some fun.

Now I think, I am going to get the kiddos set up with play-doh so that they can have some fun. I need to clean up a few things and go take my shower. Maybe if I get ready for my day, I won't feel so tired. Until later...

Starting to worry...

Well apparently with all of the budget cuts, it is finally starting to trickle down to the teachers in my husband's district. He was just informed by his principal that he could very well lose his job as early as this week. I am hoping that he has just enough time in to miss the cuts. I don't know what he is going to do if he loses his job. I don't know what we, as a family, are going to do. I know we will come up with something. I will have to see if I can find some work floating around. I wasn't really too worried before, I don't know if that is just my naive nature kicking in or if I really thought he would be safe. He has already told me that if he does get laid off, he won't be returning to teaching. I can't say that I blame him.

One clean blankie...

So this evening when Zeke was entertaining Zac, I snuck his "blankie" into the washing machine. It was a much needed cleaning. I honestly think that Zac hasn't gotten sick because he sucks on his blanket and I know it has every strain of bacteria imaginable on it. This thing has been drug everywhere. It has been since before Christmas that "blankie" has been washed. Last time I washed it, he had a nervous break down waiting for it. I felt so bad for him and that's why I waited so long to wash it this time. Well, luckily for me, he didn't go looking for it until it was done it the dryer. I captured a few shots of him getting his precious "blankie" out of the dryer.

Here he is looking at me thinking, "what the hello are you doing putting my blankie in here for?"

Here he was discovering that his "blankie" was under this other impostor blanket.

Look how happy he was to have his "blankie" back. And now mommy is happy cuz it doesn't smell as bad as before.

Later in the evening we had movie night with the kiddos and we watched "Madagascar 2". It was a very entertaining movie. I really loved it. That is the type of movie that needs to be watched more than once just to catch some of the jokes that were previously missed. I really enjoyed seeing more of the monkeys in this movie. And as always, the penguins are a riot. If you haven't seen either of the movies, I highly recommend watching them. You don't even have to have kids to enjoy them. Well that is it for tonight.

A new water heater....

Well yesterday, I spent most of my day waiting for the plumber to come and fix my water heater. He made it about noon and then looked at the water heater and said that he would be back at about two cuz he had to go get a trailer, tools and a new water heater to replace mine. I found it leaking on Wednesday afternoon. The plumber was really good about replacing it and by 4 o'clock, we had a brand spanking new water heater. It was still under warranty but of course I had to pay for labor.
Then this morning, Hersch tells me that he only had luke warm water in the shower. I was worried. I had a hot shower and I think, the water heater still needed to cycle all the way through. Later today, when my mom was watching Zac while I was at my meeting, she tells me that my washing machine was making a weird noise. Almost like it skipped. The worst part is that I have heard it make that noise before. It's still working though. I just figured, these things always seem to go in threes. Well I will keep you posted on that. Right now I am off to convince my little one that he needs to get in the tub...that didn't take much, he is already taking off his clothes and heading to the tub. I'll talk to you later.

SuperBowl Shananigans....

We had a superbowl party this past weekend and I was happy to see that the Steelers won even though I usually root for the underdogs (see previous post). And I was also happy cuz my husband won some money in the box gambling thing they did. Woohoo honey! I had a great time at my party gettin to chat with all of my peeps. They keep me in stitches and then when you add a little alcohol, I am comin apart. At one point, I forgot there was even a football game on. "Oh yeah, that's why all these loud people are in my house again." Both Hersch and I had a great time and I think everyone else did as well. Here are a few pics of the crazy fun.

Hersch and I taking a time out for a kodak moment.

Jay, Robin and Angieeee gettin' some food.

Here are a bunch of us watching the 3-d commercials that were going on during the SuperBowl. Thanks Ang for getting those. Oh yeah and thanks Jayson for having to deal with the Walmart people for those.
I hope everyone else had a great weekend as well. Thanks for stopping by.
